With the Christmas season upon us, you or your family have probably been asked to make some type of donation.
WTRF.com has learned some long time charities are seeing a major shortfall heading into the Christmas season, including the Salvation Army and their bell ringers.
In fact, the Wheeling location is seeing over 20% less of the monetary donations they normally receive this time of year, that all goes to help local families.
Right now they’re on the hunt for brave bell ringers.
“We know it’s a busy time, its busy for everyone. We just hope that people know that the money we’re able to raise through those red buckets goes to the people we’re trying to help around the year,” added Major John Blevins.
Major Blevins also said the Salvation Army desperately needs canned goods or any non-perishable food items.
They’re already near full capacity heading into the winter months and its important to pack their pantry.
