The season of giving is upon us and the Wheeling Island Hotel Casino Racetrack held their Tournaments of Christmas promotions to collect toys and money for the Salvation Army.
The Hotel-Casino-Racetrack asked guests to donate either $20 dollars or a new, unwrapped toy of the same value to enter one of the competitions. The Salvation Army ended up receiving $6,750 dollars along with a bunch of toys and bikes for their Angel Tree toy drive.
“For us that is very emotional. One, knowing there’s not a kid going without and two, knowing that each kid is going to have something new to open and it’s going to make their year start off in a better way,” said Lieutenant Benny Carringer.
The toy drive will be taking place at the South Wheeling Salvation Army on Thursday, December 22nd from 9:30 am – 2:30 pm. The children receiving the generous donations went through the Salvation Army’s application process before the event.
