The Hancock County board of education has named current Brooke County superintendent, Dr. Kathy Kidder-Wilkerson, as the next superintendent for Hancock County.
Kidder-Wilkerson has worked in the Brooke County school system for past 28 years will be filling the shoes of Sue Smith. She says it’s Hancock County’s curriculum that swayed her decision.
“They’re the only ones in the state that have their own virtual school that’s been developed by the county,” she said. “And their JDR, the John D. Rockefeller Center.”
Kidder Wilkerson was in her fifth year as Brooke County superintendent and says it’s the relationships she developed that she will miss the most.
She’s happy she was able to accomplish one of her goals, which was to get bond money to build a new middle school.
