Second District Delegate Proud of His Work in Legislature

The legislative session has come and gone, and many bills that could effect the Ohio Valley have been passed.
Second District Delegate Ryan Weld says some of those include a bill that will allow a faster permit process for Southwestern Energy as well as funding for transportation for the public school system.

Weld says there was one bill he worked on personally that he is really proud of. “I did a lot of work and worked with a number of people,” Weld said. “We passed significantly tougher DUI laws in the state including felony, if you cause somebody’s death because of intoxication. We worked hard on that and I found it to be very personally rewarding and I think that that’s one of the things I can walk away from the session with that I’m happy about.”

Weld said going into next year, he wants to work on attracting and retaining the younger generation and plans on putting together bills to do so.

In the next few weeks, Weld would like to hold town hall style meetings in local communities to get people involved again, discuss what has been passed, and the world that still needs to be done.
