Friday was Constitution Day and 8th graders from the northern panhandle heard from a special guest.
West Virginia Secretary of State Natalie Tennant gave them a history lesson about the Constitution at Independence Hall in Downtown Wheeling. She also stressed the importance of voting and the push her office is doing for National Voter Registration Month, which includes a video a day featuring everyday West Virginians, “We are more influenced by our friends, our family, our religious community, so these are videos of real West Virginians giving real reasons about why they get registered to vote and why they vote. It’s a great opportunity to share with them, to encourage other people to go to register and encourage other people to vote,” Tennant said.
The last day to register to vote in West Virginia is October 18th and early voting starts October 26th.
In Ohio, you must be registered by October 11th and early voting starts on October 12th.
