Shadyside Bows Out in Regional Championship Game

The Shadyside Tigers committed six turnovers and had over 100 yards in penalties, and bowed out of the Ohio playoffs in the Division VII Region 25 championship game 31-21 against the Trimble Tomcats at Byesville’s Capers Stadium.

The Tigers built a 21-6 first-half lead, but a touchdown pass from Andrew Losey to Justice Jenkins with 26 seconds left in the half pulled them to within 21-13 at intermission. They came out of the half and scored as well, as Jenkins went in from nine yards out. Shadyside would muff the ensuing kickoff and the Tomcats took advantage as Losey found Austin Downs for a touchdown. The Tomcats scored 25 unanswered points and held the Tigers scoreless in the second half, to advance to the state semifinals

The Tigers’ season ends with a mark of 11-1. Senior quarterback Austin Dorris, an Indiana recruit, early ran for 200 yards, 73 of it came on one touchdown scamper in the second quarter. He passed for over 100 yards by halftime and connected with Stevie Doughty on another TD, and senior running back Eric Howell scored the other Tigers’ touchdown.
