Shadyside High School students heard emotional stories this morning, from two local mothers who lost their children to drugs.
At Shadyside, the Drug Free Club now encompasses about one-third of the entire student body, both middle school and high school.
Members get prizes such as free passes to events or parks.
They also get in-school rewards, such as a free homework pass, extra bonus points or the ability to drop their lowest grade.
At Friday’s Drug Free School assembly, additional students came forward and signed up.
They’ll undergo random drug testing four times a year and will be rewarded with gatherings and field trips also.
