Shop-lifting Suspect Injures Detective; Gets Away Empty-handed

Authorities in Richland Township are looking for the suspect in a shop-lifting incident they say tried to make off with hundreds of dollars worth of clothing from the Ohio Valley Mall and injured an officer.

The incident happened about 12:10 p.m. at Boscov’s. Store detectives said they witnessed a young, white female between 21-24 steal a number of men’s shirts valued at about $100. They said the suspect took the shirts, placed them in a large bag and then left the store.

When store detectives attempted to apprehend her in the parking lot, they said she resisted. One of the detectives did suffer a knee injury as a result of the altercation.

Detectives were able to recover the stolen property during the struggle, but the suspect was able to get away.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to call Richland Township police at 740-699-0429.
