It’s a way for the Wheeling Area community helping to support their local business.
The Show of Hands is a community supported event where four business will present their ideas to expand their businesses.
Audience members are asked to make a small donation at the door.
They then vote on the project that they would like to support with the money raised at the door. The winner will also receive $1,000 donation from Orick.
The four businesses selected to present are Cat’s Paw Arts Studio, Vintage Cottage Antiques and Furnishings, Tito’s Sloppy Dogs, and Under the Elder Tree Massage Therapy and Body Care.
“We need to get our own glass cutter and it would actually cut down the time and price if we could cut our own glass,” said Amanda Carney with Cat’s Paws Arts Studio.
“What we are looking to do is update the lighting situation. This time of year it’s difficult when you have a group of people trying to paint,” Amy Cordy, Vintage Cottage, said.
“We are looking to get another sandwich cooler. That was fine when we were as busy as we were. We are a lot busier now,” Tito’s Sloppy Dogs Christopher Burress said.
“I need to reconfigure my back area into an isolated massage room that way I can bring forward my retail area,” added Under the Elder Tree’s Karri Eller.
The event, which also features food and music, will kick off Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at the Capitol Theatre Ballroom.
