Brenda Kitzmiller of Blaine passed away last January after her brave battle with breast cancer. On Monday, her son Austin gave back to Wheeling Hospital in her honor.
Austin designed T-shirts in memory of his mother and sold the shirts to give the proceeds to the nurse navigator program.
Nurse navigators help patients through tough diagnoses, support family members, and ensure patients receive the care they need.
“My mother was a very loving and caring person and I wanted to give back to the people that helped her and our family through this tough situation and time,” said Austin Kitzmiller.
Breast patient navigator Debby Radosevich was with Brenda and her family every step of the way.
“I’ve told them over and over she is so proud of what Austin has done, and I think she’s up in heaven wearing one of these t-shirts because she would be so pleased it just looks like her,” said Radosevich.
Austin and his family presented Debby with a $700 check and shared memories of Brenda together.
