John Marshall baseball alumni from the past 48 years gathered at Grand Vue Park on Sunday afternoon for a reunion dinner and to honor coach Bob Montgomery.
On Saturday night, the former players also played a reunion game at the John Marshall baseball field.
Craig Hunter and Chris Jones, both former players themselves, came up with the idea for the reunion. They said after 48 years of coaching, they felt it was important to honor their former coach.
“48 years is a long time,” Hunter said. “We’ve got a pretty diverse age group. We’ve got guys that were older than me, even, mid 50s. Then, we had younger guys that are in their 20s that came and showed up. It was just a great way to have a lot of fun and honor coach. So, we just we’ll do that, lord willing, we’ll do that every year.”
They are hoping to make the game an annual event.
