The weather may have been unseasonable but the Thomas Auto Centers’ Holiday on the Hilltop Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting took place Thursday evening and the festivities were more than enough for to kick of the holiday season.
“I thought it was awesome,” one young spectator yelled.
The tree lit up the night just after 6 p.m. and was enjoyed by the parents and kids alike, but the Parade took the attention away and continued through the night.
“It’s nice to see all the community people on the floats, and all the kids running around; they’re having a good time,” first time parade goer Paul Redilla told 7News. “It’s a nice event.”
Robert Thomas is one of the owners for Thomas Auto Centers sponsoring Thursday night’s event and told 7News this is one of his favorites, “this is our fourth year to be the sponsor of the St. Clairsville parade. And we just like to give back to the town and all the community people.”
Children lined the streets as they watched the Parade roll on. There were many fun and festive floats tonight, but everyone agreed who was their favorite float.
“Santa Claus, because I love Santa and it just reminds me of Christmas,” said St. Clairsville High School Senior Alyssa Gibson.
“I think Santa, right? I heard Santa was going to be here tonight, is Santa here buddy,” Redilla said, “Well that’s what we’re looking forward to is seeing Santa Claus.”
“I think me and Robin both agree that Santa Claus is our favorite still. Doesn’t matter how old you get, but he’s always the best,” said Thomas.
After a long wait the St. Clairsville High School marching band built up the anticipation for the grand finale of the parade, Santa.
