The  St. Clairsville Red Devils and coach Brett McClain were trying to rebound Saturday against the Licking Valley Panthers after suffering their first loss of the season last week against Steubenville.

It was a tough start for St. C though as Zach Bigelow’s pass would be picked off by Anthony Moran on the Red Devil’s first offensive possession and Moran would return it inside the 20 for the Panthers.

Licking Valley would miss the endzone but Elijah Breechbill wouldn’t miss a field goal to give the Panthers an early 3-0 lead.

The Red Devil defense would step up as Licking Valley put the ball on the turf and Danny Trouten would get it in the endzone for the Red Devils, St. C would go up 8-3 after a 2 point conversion in the 1st Half.

The St. C defense would be relentless as Licking QB Jake Lewis couldn’t handle a high snap in the 3rd and Matt Greenwood would be able to roll it up for the Red Devils. Then Brendan Ferns would get it in the end-zone from one yard out to make it 15-3 St. Clairsville.

More from the Red Devil defense in the 4th Quarter as Lewis would keep it on a QB run but Red Devil Linebacker Jake Stewart lit him up and he coughed up the ball, Cole Skaggs would scoop up before being dragged down at the 1. Brendan Ferns would score once again from 1 yard out.

Red Devils go onto win by the final of 22-3. They get Johnstown Monroe next week in Zanesville.
