St.John Central earned a hard-fought, signature victory over visiting Bridgeport 63-62 on Saturday afternoon in Bellaire
Irish senior Chief Truex exploded for a game-high 30 points, as St.John Central earned a split of the season-series.
Brycen Murray, who made two baskets all afternoon, canned a baseline jumper with 12 seconds left, giving the Irish a one-point lead. But Bridgeport had a final chance, after a missed free throw, but the Dogs turned it over without getting off a shot.
Jeff Green added 15 points for the Irish, who improved to 3-5 on the season.
Q.J. Williams led Bridgeport with 25 points.
