State Police Confirm Murder at West Virginia Northern Correctional Center

Officials with the West Virginia State Police have confirmed a murder has taken place at the West Virginia Northern Correctional Center.

According to Trooper Matthews, Jonathan Jordan, 32, has confessed to the murder of David Simpkins, 37.

His body was found on October 9, around 9:00 a.m..

Troopers say Jordan attempted to make it look like a suicide. The two were cellmates.

Officials say both Jordan and Simpkins were in a Satanist religious group, but that’s not why Jordan says he killed Simpkins. According to West Virginia State Police, Jordan said Simpkins wouldn’t stand up for himself and didn’t want to protect him any longer.

Jordan told State Police he choked Simpkins from behind until he was unconscious. When he heard him gurgle, he then strangled him with a belt. He then confessed to the murder after the investigation.

Jordan has been charged with 1st Degree Murder and may be moved to Mount Olive.

Jordan was originally in jail for arson.
