State serves ‘cease and desist’ order on Weirton port group

The West Virginia Public Port Authority has issued a cease and desist order to a former Weirton port group, demanding that they stop representing themselves as a state agency, soliciting donations and grant money or trying to enter into contracts with government agencies or private vendors.

Our news partners at the State Journal are reporting that the order, passed July 31st, was delivered to the WAPA Wednesday afternoon.

The Weirton group was stripped of its authority and ordered it to dissolve nearly two years ago back in October of 20-13.
