Steenrod Elementary is “School of Excellence”

Steenrod Elementary in Ohio County is a West Virginia School of Excellence. It was one of only seven to receive the recognition.

Receiving the honor was a team effort by staff members, students, parents, and the school’s PTA. Steenrod Principal Dan Coram, who recently retired, said the school has established a tradition of academic achievement and that will live on.

“I’m certainly leaving in June, but Steenrod will always be a part of me and it’s like the icing on the cake. Each year we were an exemplary school for 17 years,” Coram said.

Steenrod was recognized by the Ohio County Board of Education members on Monday night for being named a West Virginia School of Excellence.
