The Steubenville Kmart location is expected to close its doors in mid-April, according to our news partner the Herald Star.

Severance packages will be available to the store’s 65 employees who are eligible and they will have the opportunity to apply for open positions at other area Sears or Kmart stores.

The Kmart store on Three Springs Drive in Weirton will remain open, according to director of corporate communications for Sears Holdings, Howard Riefs.

“Store closures are part of a series of actions we’re taking to reduce on-going expenses, adjust our asset base, and accelerate the transformation of our business model,” said Riefs.

Kmart has been a staple to the Tri-State Plaza in Steubenville since the development opened in 1991.
