Steubenville Police officers caught two people having sexual intercourse while patrolling Beatty Park Monday.
Officers reported 39-year-old Estelle Hilliard is facing numerous charges after officers caught her having sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old boy in a car. Hilliard and the boy were found with the rear doors of the car open.
The plates to the vehicle were found to be expired, so police towed the car. Hilliard asked for her daughter’s backpack before the towing and she said her ex-husband’s gun might be in the bag when officers asked if any weapons or drugs were in the backpack.
Police said they found a loaded gun in the backpack. Hilliard said she placed it in the backpack because it wasn’t working right and she and her ex-husband were going to take it to get it fixed.
However, officers looked into the backpack and found a prescription belonging to the 16-year-old and male clothes. The boy claimed that the gun was not his, but he had touched it and the backpack belonged to him.
Hilliard said the gun had been stolen from her house during a party last week and that she had sent out a mass text message to all of the kids at the party to get it back.
Officials reported Hilliard said the boy contacted her Monday and said he wanted to talk, but did not tell her he had the gun until police removed it from the car.
The boy was charged with falsification and for carrying a concealed weapon.
Hilliard was charged with falsification and cited for her expired plates. She could face more charges.
