Steubenville Police found and arrested a woman who was wanted for escape from a hospital.
Officers found Charmaine Lester while conducting a traffic stop on a car with items obstructing the license plate. Lester was seated in the passenger seat and told officers her name was Tiffany Richardson.
Authorities said one officer noticed liquor bottles with security tags still on them sticking out of Lester’s purse. When officers asked Lester to exit the car, she tried to run away, but officers caught her a few blocks away.Officers found five stolen liquor bottles as well as a hypodermic needle, spoon and 2 crack pipes after searching her purse.
The driver said he was approached by Lester at Pleasant Food Mart asking for him to give her a ride for $5. He said he drove Lester to numerous places, including Kroger, where police had responded to earlier in the day in regards to a liquor theft.
The driver said he had no idea that Lester was committing these thefts as they were driving, but said she told him to stop several places so that she could sell the liquor.
Lester is now facing numerous charges including escape, resisting arrest, falsification, possession of drug abuse instruments and more.
