A local car dealership is doing their part to help out breast cancer patients in the Ohio Valley for the third consecutive year.
Straub Automotive Group at the Highlands used Breast Cancer awareness month to raise money to purchase some wish list items for area hospitals. Baskets with comfort items, books for the hospital libraries, and special after-care products following mammogram screenings. The dealership set aside $100 from the sale of every vehicle throughout October and today they presented the checks to area hospitals. “Over the last three years, we’ve actually donated over $50,000 to help in the fight against breast cancer, here locally here in the Ohio Valley,” said Straub’s Executive Manager. Bryan Fato.
Wheeling Hospital Coordinator of Breast Cancer Care, Jayme Nardo, said the patients will be overjoyed to receive the donations,”Our patients are going to be very excited, they’re going to be given educational material that they can read about their diagnosis and to better educate them on how to better take care of their self and how to get over the diagnosis of cancer.”
Money that was left over was presented to the hospitals in the form of checks to use in ways they find will best suit their patients.
