Substance Abuse Committee Formed in Charleston to Fight Addiction Problem

Less than a week into the new legislative session, four new committees have been formed. One of them will focus on studying the substance abuse issues in West Virginia.

Republican Delegate Erikka Storch is among 11 people from different cities appointed to the committee. She said she finds it beneficial to reach out to the community and be able to take the ideas to the table.

“Hopefully we’ll get to talk about what they’re doing in other communities. Obviously we have a great resource in the Ohio Valley Addiction Action Committee that Bill Ihlenfeld’s office has set up,” Storch said. “So hopefully we can see some things that work in different areas and try to replicate those on a larger scale or in other communities.”

Storch said she thinks the committee will turn into a great resource to help fight the addiction problem statewide. She said she plans to reach out to some of the different drug abuse programs in the area and take their ideas to Charleston.
