This past weekend’s floods in Texas took the life of one young female.
Alyssa Ramirez, high school homecoming queen and star athlete, was killed on her way home from prom.
According to KENS 5, Alyssa decided to brave the storm after her prom ended in San Antonio. When she was just two miles away from her, her car stalled in rising waters and was swept away quickly on a road that had not been blocked off yet.
Her friends say they’ll be there for the family, taking comfort in each other and the faith she held so dear.
“One of the things she recently said in her Sunday school is she wanted to love people better and love people more,” Alyssa Schmidt told KENS 5. “I think that’s the best way to honor her memory, is to love more.”
The Devine High School will hold a memorial service on Saturday to celebrate Alyssa’s life and give students and faculty members within the school district a chance to say goodbye.
