Kenny Rogers is headed back to the Friendly City!

Rogers, 76, will be performing at the historic Capitol Theatre Thursday night, but this will hardly be his first visit. For years, he kicked off his Christmas Concert tour in Wheeling.

Doug Campbell with the Greater Wheeling Sports and Entertainment Authority says the audience should get ready to hear hits like “Islands in the Stream,” “Coward of the Country,” and “The Gambler.”

“He’s got a great rapport with the audience. That’s the one thing about Kenny Rogers. He loves to interact with the audience. He will come out into the audience. He’s a great storyteller. He loves to tell his jokes. And you know, he’s a consummate entertainer,” Campbell said.

According to Campbell, there will be one segment of his hits, an intermission then one segment of holiday favorites.

The show starts at 8 p.m. Thursday.
