More businesses are coming to the Highlands in the near future.
At the Ohio County Commission meeting Tuesday night, it was announced seven new businesses will be set to open shop this August, adding to the number of restaurants and hotels already operating.
It has been confirmed that Mattress Firm, Sprint, GNC, Sally Beauty, Five Guys, Kay Jewelers, and Great Clips will be coming to the Highlands area.
“We’re at the point now where we’re trying to establish a base of tenants that will be successful and will contribute something that’s not already here and something the people around here can be proud of,” Ohio County Commissioner Randy Wharton said.
Right now there’s open space, but with the help of an artists rendering, we get a glimpse into the future. It’s expansions like this that continue to inspire commissioners.
“The Town Center is probably one of the most diversified area at the Highlands, because not only does it have retail but it has education, an insurance company, its got an AT&T call center, its got a theater, and retail,” Wharton said. “Everyone who works there shops there and eats there.”
This new section will expand over a large area of the Highlands. It is planned to be a 6700 square foot extension, which will connect the existing West Liberty University building to the Fairfield Inn hotel.
Construction is also expected to begin in May on a Texas Roadhouse.
