Tourism Forum Held in Hancock County

A tourism forum was held on Tuesday evening in Weirton, at the Holiday Inn. Officials with the Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau enlisted help of professionals from West Virginia University to get their message out about what Hancock and Brooke Counties have to offer.

The event is the first step in a process of bringing tourists to the Northern Panhandle.

The goal is to get the message out in the community about events, restaurants, parks and trails, and more.

“A lot of that will be used to gauge public interest in helping to develop this and putting together a consortium of people willing to work on tourism efforts. so this is a first step in working on our tourism capacities,” said Norman Schwertfeger, the WVU Extension Agent.

The forum was open to the public to get their ideas about better developing tourism capacities.
