Train Crane Overturns in Powhatan Point


UPDATE: Friday, 3:25 pm.

According to Powhatan Point Police Chief Ben Coblentz, the operator of the crane was taken to the hospital for a possible broken ankle after jumping out of the vehicle as it was tipping. The crane was attempting to life a rail car.


UPDATE: Friday, 12:14 p.m.

The accident is now reported as a train crane rollover, and not a train as previously reported. One person was injured but their injuries are not believed to be life threatening. 


ORIGINAL STORY: Friday, 11:37 a.m.

According to Belmont County officials, a train has overturned near Cove Drive in Powhatan Point. 

Officials say the fire department is not needed and Hazmat has not been called.
