Dallas Acoff starts trial next week in Ohio County for the murder of Lemroy Coleman along with six other charges.
It stems from an apparent gunfight outside the 15th Street American Legion last October 8.
Numerous shell casings and bullet fragments were found, but all the guns involved still have not been located.
Acoff was missing for several months after the shooting.
He was located by the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force in Cleveland.
“Within the vehicle was found a loaded handgun within a glove box where Mr. Acoff was sitting in the front seat. It was in the glove box. And there was a bag in the rear seat part of the vehicle that had a small amount of marijuana and suspected crack cocaine,” said Brian Ortiz, with the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force.
Acoff’s former girlfriend testified that she dropped him off at the American Legion about an hour before the fight. She said days later he called her from Cleveland, asking her to visit.
She did and asked him about the shooting.
She says he would say only that “everybody was shooting that night” and that he didn’t want to talk about it.
