The United States Attorney’s Office fro the Northern District of West Virginia and the Federal Bureau of Investigation will be working together this Election Day to combat fraud and abuse during the 2014 general elections.
According to United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, the crack down is part of the Justice Department’s nationwide Election Day Program for the upcoming November 4, 2014, general elections.
Ihlenfeld announced Monday, Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Warner will lead the efforts, serving as the District Election Officer (DEO). In that capacity, he will be responsible for overseeing the district’s handling of complaints of election fraud and voting rights abuses in consultation with Justice Department Headquarters in Washington.
According to Ihlenfeld, the FBI will have special agents available in each field office and resident agency throughout the country to receive allegations of election fraud and other election abuse on Election Day.
