United States Attorney William Ihlenfeld announced his resignation after serving the Northern District of West Virginia for more than six years.
Ihlenfeld’s last day will be December 31.
He calls his time serving as United States Attorney the most rewarding and exciting experience of his professional career.
He took major steps in battling the drug epidemic in West Virginia, among many other career milestones.
Ihlenfeld says he will return to the private practice of law in 2017.
“I feel blessed to have been a part of a talented team of crime fighters and community problem solvers, and I’m proud of all that we’ve accomplished,” said Ihlenfeld.
