United Way Surpasses Goal by $200k

The United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley made a big announcement Thursday.

They say they raised more than their original goal for this year. This year’s total came in at $802,000.

That total is $200,000 more than their goal.  That money will now go to support 29 agencies that help people right here in the Ohio Valley.

Executive Director of the United Way George Smoulder says they raised this money in many different ways.

“We have different companies that sponsor a United Way campaign. We have different special events that we have during the course of the year, so that helps. And then we have individuals that who make contributions to our United Way campaign, as well,” said Smoulders.

Smoulder also says they are very lucky to have the support of the people right here in the Ohio Valley.
