People from right here in the Ohio Valley came together Friday night for a powerful statement in solidarity against police shootings and violence going on in the world.
The group met at the Agape Church in East Wheeling and held a peaceful march around the area. This march was unlike the others we have seen from National Media outlets across the nation because this one was completely silent.
Local activists felt like this was exactly what our community needed after the recent violence. The demonstration was NOT a march against police, but rather; a moment to remind everyone that we need to stand together as one, and that we are all equal, “I hope it brings the communities together, and I hope for people to understand that this is for the well-being of the people that live around us, and the people that don’t live here,” said Moundsville Mayor, Eugene Saunders.
The entire march was peaceful and afterward, various activists from across the Valley spoke to the crowd.
