UPDATE: 2 Lanes Back Open After Early Morning Bridge Closure

UPDATE 5:35 AM TUESDAY

Two lanes, one in each direction, are back open on Wetzel County Bridge.

UPDATE 4:35 AM TUESDAY

According to Wetzel Couny Dispatch, the four-lane bridge in Proctor on Route 2 is closed due to a hole in the bridge.  Route 89 is open to get to Moundsville from New Martinsville but the bridge is closed after that point.

Dispatch says the bridge will remain closed until West Virginia Department of Highways gets on scene to assess the situation.

No injuries are reported in this situation.  

Crews remain on scene blocking the roadway.



ORIGINAL STORY:

Crews are in the process of shutting down WV State Route 2 at the Marshall/Wetzel County line due an unsafe bridge, according to Marshall County dispatch.

7News viewers report that the bridge in front of the Proctor Post Office at 89, Proctor Creek has collapsed.
