UPDATE: Canton Man Arrested After Allegedly Traveling to Meet Minor for Sex

The Harrison County Court House charged Robert Carnes II for two felonies of the Fifth degree.

The first count was soliciting another through a telecommunication device to engage in sexual activity with the offender when the offender is eighteen years of age or older and the other person is a law enforcement officer posing as a person who is thirteen years of age or older but less than sixteen years of age, the offender believes that the person is thirteen years of age or older but less than sixteen years of age or is reckless in that regard, and the offender is four or more years older than the age the law enforcement officer assumes in posing as the person who is thirteen years of age or older but less than sixteen years of age. 

The second count was having knowledge of its character or content, recklessly sell, deliver, furnish, disseminate, provide, exhibit, rent, or present to a juvenile, a group of juveniles, a law enforcement officer posing as a juvenile or a group of law enforcement officers posing as juveniles, any material or performance that is obscene or harmful to juveniles.

Carnes is in jail on a $25,000 cash bond.

A Canton, Ohio man was arrested in Harrison County after he attempted to meet an underage female in order to engage in sexual activity, authorities said.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office arrested Robert James Carnes II, 26 on Thursday. They said Carnes traveled from Canton, Ohio to Harrison County to meet a 15-year-old girl and engage in a sexual relationship.

Carnes is alleged to have shared obscene images of himself and was arrested by deputies when he arrived at the meeting location.

He was booked into the Harrison County Jail awaiting a court date.
