Authorities in Ohio County captured inmate Christopher Michael Walls after he walked away from his work release at Fort Henry Days in Oglebay on Monday morning.
According to police, Walls was assigned to help tear down Fort Henry Days at Oglebay Park when he took off his vest and walked into a nearby wooded area.
Investigators were alerted to Walls’ location on Gracie Drive, just off of GC&P Road after he allegedly attempted to steal a car. He then entered into an altercation with a West Virginia State Police officer before being captured about 5:30 p.m., according to police.
The Ohio County Sheriff’s Department, West Virginia State Police and the Department of Corrections all assisted in Walls’ capture. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday afternoon.
