UPDATE: Search Crews Find Missing Boy’s Body in Big Wheeling Creek


UPDATE: 7:30 p.m.

Wheeling Fire Chief, Larry Helms has just told 7News that doctors had done everything they could do, but Emmanuel Williams, 8, of Wheeling was pronounced dead at a local Hospital, Thursday evening.

UPDATE: 6:00 p.m.

Williams body has been found. Search rescue teams found his body floating in the water. He is being taken to an area hospital in hopes of being revived.

Deputy Chief Marty Kimball says Williams is being sent to the hospital in hopes they can revive him.

“It’s always difficult when a life is lost,” said Kimball. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. We hope they are able to help the young man.”

UPDATE: 5:15 p.m.

Officials say Emanuel Williams, 8, was walking through Big Wheeling Creek with his mom and his sister.

According to officials, the area where they were waking was around one foot deep, but slippery.

Officials say he slipped and slid into the water.

The call came into dispatch just after 3:00 p.m.. His father is now on scene.

Officials estimate some parts of the creek in that area are estimated to be nearly 20 feet deep.

Officials in Ohio County are searching for an 8-year-old boy who reportedly fell into Big Wheeling Creek near the WesBanco Bank across from DiCarlo’s in Elm Grove.

The boy is 4 feet tall and weighs 60 pounds. His shoes were seen floating down the creek.

Divers are on the way to the scene.  A K9 that specializes in water search rescues is on the way to the scene from Marshall County

Search crews have a boat in the water looking for the child, and authorities are keeping people away from the scene.
