New details have been released in an alleged armed robbery over the weekend that happened in the 400 block of Market Street in North Wheeling.
Police say the alleged robber in the case stopped by the home of some friends, once inside he demanded some pretty specific things; All the while waiving a large black handgun. He asked for a paycheck, and any other money the alleged victims may have had on them, then told everyone to place their cellphones and other valuables on the floor before taking off.
Police arrived at the apartment building shortly after, “The suspects apparently knew our victims, their were three people inside the apartment, they all knew each other. He came in, asked to use the restroom, several minutes later he then confronted one of the people inside the house, demanding all of his money, he did brandish a large black handgun,” said Wheeling Police Deputy Chief, Marty Kimball.
Police know who the alleged suspect is, they are just waiting on a warrant to be signed so they can pick him up. They also say the robber got away with some narcotics that were prescribed to one of the people inside the home.
Wheeling Police are currently investigating a possible armed robbery in North Wheeling.
Authorities were informed around 9:00 pm Saturday of an armed robbery in progress in the 400 block of Market Street.
Police then searched the surrounding areas, including Heritage Trail, the Fort Henry, and the Suspension Bridges, looking for answers.
No further information has been given or confirmed on the matter, and police continue to investigate.
