There’s another man who’s been keeping a close watch on the algae in the Ohio River and that’s West Virginia’s State Health Officer.
Doctor Rahul Gupta has been watching how health departments in the state handled the incident .
On Wednesday, he toured the Ohio County Health Department and was quick to hand out praise locally on how the situation was being handled.
“The excellent work that’s been done by this health department in making sure the public is timely being communicated to and the information is being transmitted as it comes to the Health Department,” Gupta said.
Dr Gupta also pointed out the Health Department’s quick work in issuing a conservation order.
That order has since been lifted in the Wheeling area.
People are advised, however, to keep a watch for any algae floating in the river.
