As the weather gets chilly, it’s hard to imagine that people here in the Ohio Valley will be facing winter without a coat.
Saturday, you can do something to change that and it won’t cost anything.
Just attend the second annual “Warm The Community, Feed The Hungry” event, outside the Moundsville Pharmacy from one to 5 p.m.
They’ll have activities, live music by local artists, dancing by Take A Bow studio, plus bounce houses, games, super heroes, princesses, drag race cars and refreshments.
“The admission to get into the event is a lightly used coat or a hoodie and canned goods with a non-perishable date on it. And the coats are going to go to the House of the Carpenter to be distributed to the local community, and the canned goods are going to go to the local Salvation Army for the community as well,” said Rowdy Workman, owner of Rock N Rowdy’s.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department will be on hand to make ID cards for children.
And the Moundsville Fire Department will be there with their “fire house” to teach children what to do in case of emergency.
Last year’s Warm the Community event collected more than 460 coats and more than 800 cans of food.
