West Liberty University students make smooth transition from home to Hilltop

West Liberty University aimed to make move-in day a smooth transition “from home to Hilltop” Sunday afternoon with a variety of activities for students to participate in.

“The University wants every student to be successful and we are here to help. We have dozens of events to provide our students with all the facts, tips, and assistance that they need,” said Jim Compston, area coordinator for first year residential experience in the Department of Housing and Student Life.

The Housing and Student Life staff coordinates all of the Topperfest activities, including social events and informational meetings throughout the week.

This year’s theme is “Topper Pride.”

“We are planning for a great year and a positive experience for all our students,” Compston said.

One new event this year was the President’ Picnic.

“This will be a relaxed way for our students and their families to meet and greet our president and to get to know each other,” said Compston.

Some of the events to be held this week include an outdoor movie, a hypnotist performance, and a bonfire with s’mores and music.
