The West Liberty University women’s basketball team jumped up one spot to No. 15 Tuesday afternoon when the USA Today, in conjunction with the Women’s Basketball Coaching Association (WBCA), released this week’s NCAA Division II Top 25 poll.

Coach Lynn Ullom’s Mountain East Conference pace-setters, who have been ranked in every Top 25 poll this season, received 211 voting points from the coaches’ ranking committee after stretching their winning streak to 11 games with three straight wins last week.

The Lady Hilltoppers (13-1) held off a scrappy West Virginia State squad, 78-73, on Monday night before running away to double-digit wins against Charleston and Glenville State on Thursday and Sunday, respectively.

The top five teams remained the same this week although No. 4 Lubbock Christian, Texas (13-0) and No. 5 California Baptist (13-1) switched spots from a week ago. West Texas A&M (15-0) stayed at No. 1 for the second straight week with 18 of the 24 first-place votes. Alaska-Anchorage (18-1) is No. 2 again with one first-place vote while Fort Hays State, Kan. (14-1) remained at No. 3 despite not receiving a single first-place vote.

West Liberty is once again the highest-ranked Atlantic Region team. Virginia Union (11-1) dropped from No. 20 to No. 21 despite winning all three of its games last week. No Atlantic Region teams were listed among teams also receiving votes.

The Hilltoppers will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Glenville State in a 5:30 p.m. game at the ASRC. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday night but had to be postponed due to poor road conditions.
