Wetzel County Superintendent Arrested for Alleged Involvement in Prostitution Sting


Michael Blair, the president of the Wetzel County Board of Education issued the following statement regarding the reported arrest of Dennis Albright, Wetzel County Schools superintendent:

“I was shocked this morning to hear the news of our county Superintendent’s arrest in Charleston, WV.  Naturally, at this moment, the Board is not aware of all the relevant facts and must exercise discretion and restraint before meeting to consider taking any official action.  In due course, the Board of Education will call an official public meeting and consider what actions to pursue.  In the meantime, in the absence of the county Superintendent, our Assistant Superintendent Jay Yeager will serve as chief administrative officer of the school system per his written job description.” 

UPDATE 8:15 a.m.:

Wetzel County superintendent Dennis Albright was arrested during an online prostitution sting. 

Police say Albright set up a meeting with an undercover female police officer from the Charleston Police Department.  He allegedly engaged the officer online, proceeded to text her to confirm the appointment and then went to a Charleston hotel where he offered her money for sex.

He was then handcuffed and given a summons to appear in court for engaging in prostitution.

Albright was in Charleston to attend the legislative session.


Our sister station WOWK, in Charleston, WV is reporting Wetzel County superintendent, Dennis Albright was arrested Thursday night during a sting by the Charleston Police Department.

WOWK reports the Charleston Police department conducted the sting which nabbed five men in total.

Albright was reportedly in the Capitol city for school business.
