The Wheeling Central boys basketball team won its third straight OVAC championship by defeating Bridgeport 72-53 at Ohio University Eastern in the Wheeling Hospital/ OVAC Class 2A title game.
The Maroon Knights were paced by junior, WVU commit Chase Haler with 20 points, and John Burkhalter added 18. Q.J. Williams led a trio of double-digit scorers for the Dogs with 16 points. J.C. Cash had 14 and Parker Dyson added 10.
The Maroon Knights, the No. 1 team in West Virginia Class A, have now won 15 straight game to improve to 20-2 on the season. They await sectional seedings on Wednesday.
The Dogs slip to 15-7.
