Wheeling Man Behind Bars after Social Media Threats against Public Officials

A Wheeling man is behind bars after making repeated threats against public officials.

Christopher Redman was arraigned in Ohio County Magistrate Court on Thursday for charges of threatening with intent to retaliate against a public official or employee for the performance or nonperformance of an official duty.

Officials reported a Facebook account under the name Chris Redman posted a video on May 14 threatening bodily injury to Gail Kahle.

Throughout the video, Redman is seen and heard explicitly ranting about Kahle. He also made three separate posts on Facebook before posting the video threatening to harm Kahle and other public officials.

Redman reportedly posted another video on May 15 of a recording he made of himself while making threats toward Kahle and other individuals while in the sauna room at the YMCA in Wheeling.

Authorities said at the end of the recording, Redman is seen secretly recording Ohio County Prosecutor Scott Smith swimming laps in the YMCA pool located approximately ten feet away from the YMCA sauna room.

In addition to these posts and videos, there are multiple other posts and videos ranting about Kahle.

Redman’s bond was set at $100,000 full cash and he was transported to Northern Regional Jail.

He was arraigned by Ohio County Magistrate Joe Roxby.
