Wheeling Park Baseball Cruises to Regional Final

The Wheeling Park High School baseball team is one win away from a return trip to the state tournament in Charleston thanks to a 13-2 win at Parkersburg South on Memorial Day.

The Patriots advance to Region 1 Championship Game where they’ll host Morgantown on Wednesday night at five at Patriots Field. Wheeling Park and Morgantown split the season-series with each team winning at home.

A pair of Wheeling Park sophomores did the pitching with Austin Crebs allowing just one hit and one run in five innings of work. Jub Delbrugge cleaned up the final two innings with a big lead.

Wheeling Park broke open a close game with a six-run third inning and led 8-1. The big hit was catcher Tyler Cooley’s bases-clearing double.
