Around 350 kids walked across the stage at WesBanco Arena on Sunday afternoon to receive their diplomas from Wheeling Park High School.
It was also an emotional moment for the Wheeling Park community when Mark Nardone was named educator of the year.
Nardone also received the class gift from the class of 2016, $1,000 to be used in the high school weight room.
It was a bittersweet day for the students, many of them having fond memories of their high school years.
“My most favorite memories from Wheeling Park are being on all the sports teams and getting involved with all the clubs and making so many new friends that I’ll have for a lifetime,” said Rachel Bugaj.
“Park is definitely an awesome school. I would say take advantage of every opportunity that you have,” said Hannah Meredith.
For me, getting involved in clubs and organizations in school and through them in the community really helped me meet more people and find out what I love.”
“Park presents a lot opportunities to do a lot of things that will help better you for your future and everything else. And me, I took advantage of those opportunities and as a class as a whole we took advantage of those opportunities. Park is just very good in that aspect,” said the class of 2016 valedictorian.
Congratulations to all of the students graduating and good luck in your futures!
