Wheeling Park High School Teacher Named West Virginia Teacher of the Year

A Wheeling Park High School teacher has won the state’s top honor as West Virginia’s Teacher of the Year.

Gail Adams, an English/Language Arts and Speech teacher and theater coach, was given the honor on Wednesday night by the West Virginia Department of Education at the Marriott Town Center in Charleston.  In June, Adams was named the Ohio County Schools Teacher of the year, before being chosen as a finalist for the state-level award.

Adams began her career with Ohio County Schools in 2004. Ohio County Schools Superintendent Dianna Vargo said she was thrilled with Adams’ selection as the West Virginia Teacher of the Year. Vargo said Adams is committed to providing Wheeling Park High School students with the best education.

“We are so proud of her,” Vargo said. “She is dedicated to her students, and she does all she can to make sure they receive the education they deserve. Gail is such a talented educator, and she truly loves teaching.”

Adams will also be recognized for her achievement by the Ohio County Board of Education at the board’s October 13 meeting at Wheeling Park High School.
