Wheeling Park High School to Hold Heroin Forum for Parents and Students

The use of heroin has increased dramatically throughout the Mountain State, and according to recent statistics, heroin overdose rates have tripled over the past five years.

One local school district is reaching out to parents to help address the growing problem. Ohio County Schools are hosting an interactive forum on the subject on Thursday. It will be held at 6 p.m. at Wheeling Park High School.

United States Attorney William Ihlenfeld will be on-hand, along with several other community leaders.  “We hope all parents come in and join us that weekend so they can hear about the dangers of heroin and opioid and together we can help our students be safe.”

Topics include a presentation on the dangers of heroin, as well as a discussion about the warning signs of the drug. It will be followed by a question and answer session with parents.
