Wheeling Police have released stats of their latest distracted driving enforcement operation.
Officers with the Wheeling Police Department conducted “Operation Wolfpack” on Monday between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. in two areas. The first part of the operation was conducted in the 2000 block of National Road and the second part of the operation was conducted in the area of Bethany Pike and National Road.
Police say both areas are high traffic areas and have been subject to a high number of motor vehicle crashes. Police believe many of the accidents have been caused by distracted driving.
A total of 46 citations were issued for Cell Phone Use While Driving during the operation. Officers also issued citations for Expired MVI and Expired Registration.
The month of April is National Distracted Driving Month.
