Wheeling Police Find Body at the “Pig Path” in Woodsdale

Wheeling Police are investigating after a body was found in the Woodsdale area.

Officials said the body was found along the “pig path” off of Elm Street. The path runs between Elm Street and Heiskell Avenue.

Police said Harold Tharp, 18,  found the body. He walked off the trail and saw the man lying there. He immediately called the police after discovering the body. 

Tharp said the body was a male and he was wearing a white shirt with blue jeans. 

Wheeling Police Chief Shawn Schwertfeger confirmed the body was a male.  Chief Schwertfeger also said it appears to be  case of a drug overdose.  Police found needles and drug paraphernalia near the body.

The body will be taken to either Charleston or Morgantown for an autopsy.
